The beginning of November of 2008 I was contacted by a current customer [I will refer to him as “T” in keeping strict confidence] to help with his horse “W”. He was suffering from an equine disease named: EPM or equine protozoal myeloencephalitis. This was the second time “T” approached me for help with “W” as his condition was worsening with a full-blown relapse and there was not much hope for the immediate future.

Months earlier [approximately August of 2008] “T” asked me to look into this same problem and to create a ‘customized, herbal formula’ to in the least, help assist “W’s” recovery since the current bio-medical medication wasn’t really working. He had also informed me that he had spent thousands of dollars over a couple years with emergency vet bills and so on. “T” knew that I had great experience with both people [as his own dire condition was on the rapid heal due to the herbal formulas] and worked exclusively with dogs. This was going to be my first endeavor into the equine world, but “T” was confident and ready for anything to help save “W”, his loving horse. I agreed to help.

After many hours of research I felt ready to offer a formula based on my exact, findings. I transferred the EPM disease patterns into TCM patterns and sub-patterns to understand what I was dealing with. As I was about to send the formula and directions to the “T” and his family decided to not go with my help and continued to finish with the bio-medical medication to see what happens.

Now…returning to the November 2008 date, and with the rapid health decline once off the bio-medical medication, “T” along with the rest of the family contacted me for help. They were in major distress upon the thought of losing their beloved horse, “W”. He was down at least a minimum of 100-150 pounds and was showing major neurological deficits. This was their last hope with “W” nearing the end. Of course I agreed and basically started all over to make sure I had as much information as possible. I had always joked in the past that Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine [TCHM] was the last stop, the caboose when it came to people searching out a method of help for serious, dire conditions and here we were again.

My conclusion was that a low immune system was the main reason “W” could not ‘fight’ the pathogen in the ways other 'healthier' horses could. His history of being worked hard by his original owner backed my conclusions as was relayed to me by “T”. To be honest, that was the only information I had to go on other then the vet’s diagnosis of EPM. Also, I am in another state so seeing “W” was not an option. I didn’t even have a picture…oh well! The formula was based on rectifying the immune system, strengthening blood, assist digestion and eliminate any lingering pathogens. This very complex formula would in the end assist “W” to heal him self by healing from the inside, out.

OK, final result. I called “T” after about a week of sending the out the formulas. “T” said after the first day “W” was starting to show no outward, neurological signs of the EPM! Prior to ingesting the formula “W” was involuntarily crossing his legs and falling over. After one week “W” was taken for a ride with no sign of any health problems. He was doing great! They could even start to see that “W” was starting to put on weight. Ironically, the vet gave “W” about a week to live from the time he started taking the formulas. I was recently informed [January 2008] that “W” is doing awesome and even won third place in a 4-H barrel competition! Not bad for a horse that was very sick!! “T” stated that “W” is just doing awesome, getting stronger, putting on weight and an outsider could never tell that he was ever so ill.

“W” received two of the these EPM Assist Formulas to start with for the first month and will stay on two formulas per month for the next five months, reducing down to one formula per month for the following six months. After one year he will be taken off the formula to ‘see’ how he does. Even though he is doing very well, he needs to stay on this regimen in continuing the promotion of internal organ system health and rejuvenation. The concoction [tea] was directly added to his feed once per day. He had no problem ingesting it this way. The above picture is of "W", January of 2008!
